ADFM National Caregivers Network is organizing a Free Public Talk for Caregivers of Dementia, sponsored by Eisai (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

OBJECTIVES: 
To get the message across to the caregivers that the planning ahead is to prepare themselves how to cope when different situation does come up such as:

1.  having another stroke
2.  increasing dependency at home due to frailty and aging process
3.  prevention of falls
4.  feeding problems
5.  Having psychotic features
6.  Failing to respond to external stimuli
7.  Financial arrangement and application for guardian, etc
8.  Coping with death and dying process

There are many more and the mentioned situations or incidents are commonly occurred at moderate/late stage of dementia.  Preparation for strengthening their resilience and coping strategies should plan ahead - knowing what is going to happen and how to reduce the stress level …… .

Who Should Attend:
Caregivers and Family members, health care workers who work in nursing homes/hospitals, social workers, home assistants & all members who directly or indirectly involve in the care of dementia patients.

SPEAKER’S PROFILE:
Dr Gemma Law, Assistant Professor College of Life Science & Technology School of Professional & Continuing Education at HKU.  Dr Gemma Law, a Chartered Psychologist (UK) is a well known Speaker at regional and world conferences on related Alzheimer's/Dementia areas.  She has over 10 years' clinical experiences in nursing and mental health care. Her research area includes family caregiving burden, psychosocial intervention, behavioral management, and case management approach in dementia care.  She has been involved with several pioneering projects as a Consultant such as, developing community dementia day care, carers forum, training programs for volunteers and family caregivers and centre for behavioral management. Her publications include developing dementia day care, use of assessment pack and individual care plan, self help kit, home care management, care of persons with moderate and late stage of dementia.
