INTRODUCTION
·           Malaysia is one of the fastest rapidly ageing country in the world.  Age is a direct risk factor for dementia. Hence, we expect the prevalence of dementia to rise very quickly in the next few decades.
·           This issue is of such importance that some countries have made dementia a national health priority (unfortunately not in Malaysia).
·           Currently, there are 10 Psychogeriatricians in Malaysia for a population of 28 million. There is an enormous sparsity of Memory Clinics and allied health professionals specialising in dementia such as nurses and occupational therapists.

In her talk, Dr Lu-Ann will cover:

·           As much information for relatives to learn to recognise early signs of dementia in family members they are concerned about.
·           If they have such concerns, how to access Memory Clinics in different states?
·           If there are no Memory Clinics near where they live, are there other doctors qualified to make a diagnosis and provide treatment?
·           What happens in Memory Clinics - what tests are done and why?
·           How well does the medication work. How much do they cost a month? How long do patients have to take medication for?
