RESEARCH SURVEY BY MONASH UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA “SMART-PHONE HOME SYSTEM”

Dear all,

There is an increasing concern for the health and well-being of elderly people to lead independent and fulfilling lives. It is therefore important to develop safe and useful technologies to help the elderly people. This study aims to examine factors that influence the older adults’ (age 60 and above) intentions, acceptance and usage of smartphone home system.

Monash University Malaysia is conducting this multidisciplinary research study supported by UN which involves researchers from Monash University Malaysia, MMU, CityU and FU.  This survey requires your participation in an experiment on how to operate the smart-phone home system using a smart-phone, survey questionnaire and interview session. The entire session will take you approximately 35-40 minutes.

Your voluntary support and participation in this study, which involves 400 participants, will enable the researchers to gain a better understanding of the factors that influence the older adults’ intentions, acceptance and usage of smartphone home system.  Participants’ responses will remain anonymous. The survey response will assist technology developers in their technology design and development for the older adults.

A token of appreciation (i.e., RM10 cash voucher from AEON Co. (M) BHD) will be awarded to each participant who completes the experiment, survey questionnaire and interview.

Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM) is pleased to support this research study by Monash University Malaysia.  We encourage our caregivers and their families, and the general public (anyone aged 50 and above) making time to participate in this meaningful research study for the benefits of the older adults community in Malaysia.

For the convenience of our participants who will be participating in this survey, we have consented for Monash University Malaysia to set up their survey centre at the ADFM Resource Library at ADAM’s Headquarter, No. 6, Lorong 11/8E, Section 11, 46200 Petaling Jaya.

The survey interviews will be held from Mondays to Fridays, from 9.30am to 6pm, from the period of 23 February 2016 until 30 April for 2 months.  Participants will come for the survey interview on the date and time allotted.

Anyone aged 50 and above who wish to participate in this survey, kindly SMS/Whatsapp Jenny at 016 608 2513 or call 03 7931 5850, or email jenny@adfm.org.my for a convenient date and time.
